DNU John T. Smith Scholarship
The John T. Smith Scholarship was named for Dr. John T. Smith, the first African American to receive a doctoral degree from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Smith had a distinguished career in higher education and served as the first African American community college president in Kentucky. This scholarship is awarded to Kentucky residents who demonstrate potential for success, a need for financial support and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. Factors for consideration include academic record (2.5 GPA or higher), achievement in extracurricular activities, and racial status.
